About Junia

Junia, a transitional school, is contributing towards major issues such as helping to feed the planet, developing the digital and industrial transformation, accelerating the energy and urban transitions process, and improving technology for health and well-being.

This engineering school has 8 preparatory cycles, 3 HEI, ISA and ISEN university programmes, research activities and business services. Junia has 5,000 students (including 530 apprentices) and 450 employees. There are 4 campuses: Lille (since 1885), Bordeaux, Châteauroux and Rabat.

Its programmes are approved by the French Government and it has been awarded the EESPIG certification (private higher education institution of general interest). Its degrees are recognised by the CTI (French Commission of Engineering Qualifications). Junia is a member of the Catholic University of Lille.

Junia strives to excel in everything it does for the benefit of its students, companies and areas where it is present. The group’s current strategy is based on various goals – expanding its four campuses, boosting its international presence, forging partnerships with companies, excelling in engineering and educational innovation, consolidating its business consulting services, modernising its Lille campus, pursuing an ambitious research programme and striving for excellence in how it is run.

Educational Innovation

Junia has created a strategy based on striving for excellence in engineering and educational innovation in order to offer its teaching staff the very best support in designing courses. In order to meet the aspirations of students and promote teaching practices which help them learn more effectively, Junia has introduced new integrated undergraduate programmes. Active learning, original cross-disciplinary methods, an international approach… these programmes have been designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to progress on to our postgraduate engineering degrees. Two years ago, three new undergraduate programmes began to be offered at our Lille campus.

Research which Benefits the Local Area

Junia carries out research in a wide range of areas, these reflecting the various disciplines taught on our programmes, the aim of which is to contribute to the economic development of the regions where we’re present. To do this, we have 23 research laboratories and are involved in running 4 regional public laboratories.

Co-Designing Since 2008

Since 2008, Junia has been acquiring expertise in co-design thanks to its ADICODE® innovation and co-design facilities. The aim of ADICODE® is to foster innovation and as such it is based on a transdisciplinary, user-driven approach, rapid prototyping, creativity and collective intelligence. The expertise acquired as part of this programme is reflected in our teaching, which sees us to give students and professionals the necessary tools to undertake innovative co-design projects, and in the services we offer, which involve us working with companies to drive generation.

A very International School

Junia has a strong international presence, as seen through its franchise programmes in Africa, Asia and Latin America, the aim of which is to offer students other routes into engineering. What’s more, the school fosters an ‘international at home’ outlook and atmosphere on all its campuses.

Learning, Discovering and Innovating at Full Scale

As part of our mission to offer solutions to regional issues (transition towns, farming and food of the future, smart buildings, manufacturing of the future), Junia also has demonstration prototypes. These are created in fully-equipped, functioning sites on our campuses, as well as in a variety of other settings, and draw on the skills of Junia’s teaching staff, researchers and consultants. They create real conditions which allow us to achieve three goals – learn whilst doing, pursue an empirical approach in our work and experiment with full-scale innovations.

Committed to CSR

Junia’s CSR policy is known as its Switch Policy. It is backed by ISO 14000 and DD&RS (Sustainable Development and Corporate Social Responsibility) certifications and has earned numerous awards, including coming 2nd place in the International Green Gown Awards, organised by the UN to celebrate great sustainability initiatives at universities and colleges around the world. Our CSR policy is centred around 3 pillars of sustainable development – people, prosperity and the planet. It gets everyone at Junia behind concepts such as disability, mobility, the circular economy, energy management, sustainable purchasing and social entrepreneurship, to name but a few examples.
